Vilaflor

This municipality situated at over 1,400 metres above sea level, is a village among pine and almond trees, with excellent architectural examples, such as its parish church and the old palace-house of the Lord and Lady of the Abona District. Or the ruins of the convent built in the memory of Hermano Pedro ( Brother Pedro ) founder of the Bethelemita Order, son of Vilaflor and blessed by the Vatican.All the municipality border of Vilaflor is ideal for excursion lovers. The most visited places however include : La Madre de Agua, El Sombrero, the beauty spots of Lomo Gordo, the recreation zone of Las Lajas, Montaña de San Roque and Agua Agria, all places with special charms for visitors. The Vilaflor cheeses and golden wines are famous. Hunting is very abundant in the mountains, apart from rabbits, in the high mountains , near Las Cañadas, very timid and mimetic muflones (a kind of mountain goat) can be found.
